Comments : The place is interesting, has got some charm
and was listed in 1994 as a UNESCO World Heritage site but the
circus around the great master and the fact that travelers are constantly
requested to spend money annoy ! What to do : Resist the touts & pedicab attacks / Visit the huge temple (20Y) / Leave your money belt open for the Mansions where some descendant of Confucius lived (Y30, Exp) / Walk or cycle toward the Confucian Forest, with a look on the way at the Yanhui Temple and the other decorating sights / After paying your entry fee, watch the carnival around the Tomb of the Master / Walk around the impressive cemetery which contains the remains of more than 100,000 of Confucius descendants / Back in the village, continue to walk or cycle around... What you may not like : The touts & pedicab outnumbering you / The entry fees / The tourism & lack of serenity / How long ? one day
The village is small so you can accept to follow a tout from the bus station. Alternatively, head toward the Confucius Mansions Hotel, on the east of the bus station. Expect to pay around 60Y for a bed and around 150Y for a Dbl.
