This town between Phuket and Krabi is nothing special but this is a good place to book a tour to famous Phang-Nga Bay. Even so James Bond Island is nowadays kind of a tourist trap, the boat trip is very pleasant and the limestone scenery beautiful. You can spot old paintings and water filled caves but the most interesting spot is without doubt the Muslim village built on stilts in the middle of the sea, by the shade of a huge limestone cliff. The tour takes the day and cost B200-450 including lunch, depending on your bargaining power and the busyness. Shop around ! This should be much cheaper than from Phuket and cheaper than from Krabi.

Accommodations in town are available for around B150.

On the way from/to Phuket (great view), make sure to stop at Wat Tham Suwankhuha, a huge cave full of Buddha and monkeys. Other caves can be found in the area, in particular Tham Luu Sii, within the Sinakharins Gardens, just outside town, also on the way to Phuket.

Phang-Nga town with Mr Kean (076-430619) and his overnight/full day trip around Phang-Nga bay. Lai works with him and will give a good day/nightlife tour-just buy him a lot of beer! A very friendly town with no prostitutes - enjoyable and refreshing.
