Wat and a peaceful river bank.

What you may not like : taking it easy ?
How long ? One night, on the way to somewhere else
Where to stay ?
- See View Guesthouse (053 681556), 70 Wiangmai Rd, a bit
outside town, on the other side of the river (turn left after crossing the bridge, 10 mn walk from station). You will probably be met by the owner at the bus station who will propose to give you the ride / Huge and comfortable rooms w. shower 150
(Sgl or dbl occupancy), Bungalows 250 / Trekking / Bikes for rent / Go there for the best rooms in town at excellent value if two people, the big open space next to the river, the relaxing restaurant, the pick up service from and to the station / What you may not like : being outside of town, not being completely isolated from the traffic noise, being wake up at 4am by excited roosters, the not so fresh nor charming concrete rooms
- Riverside Guesthouse, from the bus station, turn left, then right, then right again on the street
parallel to the Youm river, 5mn walk in total / Various size rooms go for 100 or 180 Sgl or Dbl occupancy / Great relaxing terrace / Trekking / Go there for the
atmosphere and the good central location, to eat or relax at the terrace while looking at the river / What you may not like : the not so cheap basic rooms, the proximity of the road
- North West Guesthouse
(053 681956), just before the above, on the other side of the road, same management / The cleanest & freshest looking rooms in town (90 or 160 Sgl or Dbl occupancy) but without the river view atmosphere...
- Mae Sariang Guesthouse, even closer to the bus station, same road as above / Very basic rooms 60 or 100 without or w. shower / No charm, noisy and a bit dirty but cheap and centrally located...
Internet ? A few places on the main road charge the basic 1B per mn

nearby friendly Karen villages and visit the various wats in the district. Great sunset views from Wat JohThong

prawn lemon grass soup for 70THB - superb!) Buses to Mae Hong Son leave at 7, 10.30, 12.30 and 3.30.

The trip to Mae Hong Son : SSSS / L / B70 / 4.5 hrs / Fan Bus
OK so the guy who was suppose to drive me to the station did not show up so I had this 15mn wake up walk. The bus however left on time for this great trip inside this
mountainous forest area. Except for a short period near the end, the left window is the place to be, if possible not behind a girl who is throwing up. Yes, the road is a bit winding...
