Description : An overgrown fishing village where fish &
rubbish bask in the sun...
Comments : Except on Monday (night market) or if passing nearby in the afternoon, the place may not be worth bothering too long. If you disagree, let me know...
What to do ? Spot buffalos on the beach, an originality in Malaysia / Meet the fishermen, back from the sea with their catch at around 2pm / Follow the fish from the basket to the sun bathing area / Swim : the sea looked clean (yes, clean !) / Explore the area / Spot a few small mosque / Relax with the local people / On
Monday night, treat yourself at the night market /
What you may not like ? The feeling of being in Kuantan's wasteland : the village, river, beach and even
Muslim cemetery are disgusting ! / The rather charmless village / Having little to do / The lack of GH choice /
How long ? Eventually half a day for the fishy atmosphere
Where to stay ? Beserah Beach GH (09 5448427), near the beach but by the road / Dbl w. shower 20, family room 40 / Go there for the bright rooms w. some charm and because the other place is really grotty / What you may not like : the lazy walls, the lack of mosquito net, the only room w. balcony (ugly view anyway) and the rather high prices
The trip to Kuantan : SS / L&R / R0.60 / 20mn
A short ride for the remaining 7km. Not much to see. Not much to write about. A few minutes before reaching the local bus station by the river, you can spot the huge & green commercial
center on the right. That's about it...
