Where to eat in TST ?

 

We do not usually recommend restaurants but eating in HK can be such an expensive experience that a few addresses should not harm...

Food stalls ?

  • Thousand Island, Silvercord, basement / Good choice of cheap snacks or meals

  • Up date, 46 Nathan road / Limited choice and atmosphere...

  • City Super Cooked Deli, Harbour City, 3F /Open 10:30am to 9pm (last order 8:45pm) / An up market address with an excellent choice of Japanese, Thai, Indian or German cuisine...

  • Chung King Mansion is also a kind of food stall but not the most romantic one...

 

Coffee or snacks ?

  • Pacific Coffee Co, various locations throughout HK including at City Super or Star Ferry / Reasonable prices, good choice and free internet for 20mn !

  • First Cup Coffee, 3 Lock road / A small open shop with long working hours from 7am to 11pm /Extensive choice of coffee 

  • Kee Wah Ltd, 25-29 Hankow Rd / The pastries' paradise at reasonable rates / Open 8am to 8pm / Fresh bakeries at 1pm daily

 

Chinese canteen ?

  • Hoi Yuet Restaurant, basement, 63 Peking road / Extensive choice (incl. western), reasonable prices, no service charge, long working hours (8am to midnight), good service and acceptable food make this address a favorite with locals or westerners / Their $48 (western) set dinner is usually big enough for two (not too hungry) people and it changes daily.

  • Hing Fat Restaurant, 8-10 Ashley road / Another very popular place with locals / Long working hours / Good soup dumplings cost $18.

 

Chinese or dim sum restaurants ?

  • China Noodle Kitchen, 98 Canton road / Small restaurant with good atmosphere, good service, tasty food and reasonable price / Their $25 or $35 specialties are a bargain for HK / Shanghai dim sum $12 to $18 / One false note only : the tea automatically served cost $5 per person (you could off course refuse to pay as it is written nowhere...)  

  • Happy Garden Noodles & Congee Kitchen, 76 Canton road / Small Cantonese restaurant with honest food reasonably priced / Open 7:30 am to 12:30am

  • The sweet Dynasty, 88 Canton road / Another Cantonese restaurant with a good rapport authenticity-price / Open 10am to 1am

  • Grand Hill, 37 Hankow road / Taiwanese restaurant with dim sum from 11:30 to 4:30pm / Reasonable dim sum prices  from $12 (small) to $22 (specials)

  • Kung Tak Lam Vegetarian Cuisine, 45-47 Carnarvon road / Shanghainese vegetarian restaurant /  "HK best restaurant 1996" / Dim sum from $15 to $25 / Lunch sets start at $18 /Shanghai style cold noodle with 7 sauces $45 /Open 11am to 11pm

There is a good place in Kowloon for 'hot pot', very cheap but delicious food, traditional Cantonese food. It is on Cheung Sha wan MTR station, in Kowloon, 6 station from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station / 15mins travel, it is only HK$50 for a person, but is in Buffet!!! Its located in Li Check Uk estate, Po On Road. Indian restaurants ?

  • India Restaurant (2366 6591), 1F, 2A Humphrey's Avenue / Special Buffet Lunch Mond-Sat. $48 plus 50% discount on drinks / Open 12-3pm & 6pm-11:30pm

  • Swagat (2723 7618), 1F, 103-104 Chung King Mansion /The only fully licensed Indian restaurant of Chung King so it is possible to drink well as well as eat well / Reasonable prices at around $40-50 / Open 10:30am to 11:30pm

  • Taj Mahal Club (2722 5454), 3F, B4, B Block Chung King Mansion / Same reasonable prices / The menu with photos also help to decide /Open 11am to midnight. 

  • Khyber Pass (2721 2786), 7F, E2, E Block Chung King Mansion / Very basic decoration but good food come even cheaper / Open 12am to 11:30pm 

  • Branto (2366 8171), 9 Lock road / Good prices all week long but a good deal every Tuesday with a special buffet lunch for $60 / 

 

Other good deals ?

  • Prince Deli, 3F Prince Hotel, 23 Canton road / A very relaxed atmosphere and big portions come at surprising low prices : breakfast sets from $20, half-chicken and potatoes $35, salads from $25,... /  Open 8am to 8pm

  • Pizza world, GF New World Center, 22 Salisbury Rd / Set Lunch (salad bar, soup & coffee) $38 (add $7 for main course as well), Buffet Dinner (sushi, oyster, ice cream, cakes) $98 or 108 WE / Open until 9:30pm

  • W's Paris 13th (2723 6369), Shop 202, Toyo Mall, 94 Granville Rd, near HK Science Museum / A Vietnamese restaurant as well as an original bar / Set lunch $45 to 48, Set dinner for two $148 / Happy hour 3-8pm / Open 11:30 am to 11:30pm

  • The Coffee Shop (2113 3912), 1F Hong Kong Hotel, Canton road / Slightly up market but still interesting thanks to its "early birds" deal : lunch buffet at $88 if you arrive at 12 and leave at 1pm on week day...
