Comments : Buy your train ticket in Guiyang, arrive in Anshun in the morning, check the Falls and go back to Anshun for your evening train. What to do : Change bus to the Falls or the Cave, 1 hour away / Check out the biggest falls of China and a multitude of other falls in the area /Admire the "Tour Sourenir" (no wrong spelling) gold medal you get with your entrance ticket to the Falls / Visit Caves What you may not like : Finding a fast bus back from the Falls (expect 2 hrs as some buses take the nicer road through small villages) / The rip-off entrance prices / Finding that the Falls have little water (better from May to Oct and 4 days after heavy rains) How long ? One day, enough time to check the falls and come back to Anshun for your train to Kunming
Where to eat ? Considering the lack of appealing restaurants or even food stalls, try Jun Gong Chan, on the left just before the train station. Hotels << Get precise info, book online and save money !
Entrance fees to the Falls : 30Y + 5Y for the cable car down (take the stairs : it is nicer and you will go up another way anyway but beware the slippy stairs),+ 10Y to go behind the falls ! (at this point, I was so fed up that I walked straight in without paying. Nobody dare stop me) Tip : If you find that this is daylight robbery, you can have a free look at the falls (check if there is enough water to your taste) from the road going North to the villages or some of the restaurants (in particular Kuan Pu Lo). Longgong Caves : If you plan to visit the caves as well, you would be better going with a tour from Guiyang (Y50 to 60, 7 to 19) as the buses to the caves from Anshun are infrequent. Prices does not include the entrances fees.

Once again a new train : the particularity of this one was not to have luggage space at the extremities of the wagon and to recreate a disco atmosphere with the diffusion of 80's western classics. Off course, I found myself at the extremity, the most noisy place to be and the train was definitively too crowded to dance... But once the music switched off at 10pm, sleep was easy to find and the journey, as usual in Chinese trains, relatively smooth and comfortable. See
